30 death pardons in 22 months by President Patil – Did the criminals deserve it ?
22 out of 30 death-pardoned criminals, by President Pratibha Patil, were involved in brutal murders including crimes on and murders of children. The ones who can set biggest examples of inhuman behavior , today put doubts to mind that should anyone really be over Judicial Courts ?
Sushil Murmu from Hazaribag, Jharkhand had beheaded a small boy of his village in the name of sacrifice ritual to Goddess Kali and investigations revealed he had also ‘sacrificed’ his brother before !
Dharmendar Singh and Narendra Yadav had finished a five-member family just because a 15 year old daughter protested rape attempted by Yadav.In June 201o they were pardoned !
Molai Ram and Santosh Yadav found guilty of raping and murdering minor daughter of the jailor at Rewa,Madhya Pradesh are pardoned. Molai Ram was the guard on duty while Santosh Yadav was serving for a previous rape case and was gardening on the day of the incident !
Is the right given to pardon death-sentences not put to question with such brutal killers being granted life ? President Patil has set a record of pardoning as high as 30 pleas in 28 months but the question remains – did they really deserve it ?
