NCERT Panel -Remove Gandhi,Nehru cartoons from textbook!
The NCERT panel which is Government-appointed committee looking into the controversy surrounding political cartoons in school textbooks said that cartoons with negative references to politicians and bureaucrats should be removed from the textbooks. They also found too many cartoons of Nehru-Gandhi family which they recommended to remove as well.
Well, cartoons seem to be bothering our politicians, way too much, be they are on school textbooks or on social networks! 😉 . Are cartoons just not a medium of expression ? Who defines ‘Negative References’ ? Political columns , hundreds in number, everyday, get pressed in newspapers and online. Even those writings criticize politicians and political scenarios of recent times and of the past. Like writing even drawing is a way of expression about a thing, person or situation. Isn’t it ? What are we scared about as politicians ? What is their in the past which we do not want our future generations to know ? Someday, it may happen that books criticizing particular politicians of past and their decisions may be banned ! Is this democracy or hypocrisy in the name of it ? 🙁
