In an interview to Reuters,Gujarat’s CM , Narendra Modi claimed he was innocent in the Gujarat riots. To add on he said while driving if a puppy comes under the wheel, it will be painful and that even he is a human being. If something bad happens anywhere, it is natural to be sad.
Congress and other parties were quick to pick up the analogy and hit out at him for using the puppy word in the context of the riots while BJP was busy defending the statement by Modi.
Syed Zafar Mahmood , a renowned critic of Gujarat Chief Minister,Narendra Modi, presented a slide show at the Young Indian Leaders Conclave, touching upon various aspects of problems being faced by Muslims and the 2002 riots, in front of the Gujarat CM and said he was happy that his views were taken in stride. His presentation was to explain why is the Muslim Community of the country heavy-hearted with BJP and Modi. Modi assured to consider the issues presented.
The ghost of 2002 Gujarat riots has haunted Modi since a decade now. And it is the same ghost which has become a major threat for him to even think about the Prime Ministerial post.Convincing the Muslim Community to ease themselves against him is the only way out. After all,the path to Delhi can never be set without the support of the major Minorities.
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi flew into Uttarakhand on Monday to survey the rescue and relief operations and spent the night at a base camp. While the BJP has been asking why was Rahul late in visiting the flood hit areas of Uttarakhand, the Congress Spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary said Rahul Gandhi is not a ‘Rambo’.He has gone to survey the flood-hit area as a common citizen. The Rambo word was used targeting Narendra Modi, who had entered the flood-hit area accompanied by bureaucrats and evacuated 15000 people from his state in chartered helicopter and luxury buses.
Well, who would have hated such a real-life Rambo in moments of crises ?
In between the rescue operations , both Congress and BJP has chosen to politically utilize the situation while blaming each other of doing so. Uttarakhand has been hit by heavy flood due to torrential rains, resulting which, thousands of pilgrims and locals are left at the mercy of rescue team. The brutal flow of water has ransacked roads and houses and everything possible in its way.The Kedarnath Temple has been effected a lot.Above 100 are feared dead.Meanwhile,Gujarat CM, Narendra Modi visited the flood hit area on helicopter.Home Minister Union was quick enough to point out, only State CM should do aerial surveys while Congress’ Digvijaya Singh had already criticized Modi’s aerial survey. BJP on the other hand is giving Congress a hard time due to Rahul Gandhi’s absence in yet another crises.
All the drama prior to 2014 General Elections. JD(u) may soon call off its political alliance with BJP after Modi has been made the Head Of the Election Committee, following which Advani resigned and now is being pleased by partymen. NDA weakening may surely give an edge to Congress to think for yet another term in 2014 and may raise the possibility of a different political equation altogether.
As of now, while Narendra Modi can expect things happening his way,it is also true that people who are anti-Modi in NDA and BJP itself, are preferring sidelining as per their vested interests.
* to all the regular visitors and blogger friends – my internet continues to play tricks. This post if published in another 5 minutes will cross the mark of 45 minutes ( the highest time it took for me , so far, to publish my posts within the last few days). I request your continued co-operation.
After JD(U) its Shiv Sena which wants BJP to declare the NDA candidate for Prime Minister’s job ! While Sena has no complains with Modi and 2002 riots where they say that none could avoid those riots , it wants Sushma Swaraj to be the candidate and not Narendra Modi (sounds like the present Sena supremo is in a dilemma) !! 😉
All in all, looks like BJP is in a bigger fix! Nitish Kumar, the Bihar CM wants a secular candidate (without naming himself 😀 )and prefers supporting L.K.Advani as the candidate (whose involvement in Ayodhya Movement has been pardoned by Nitish, I suppose 🙂 ) while Sena declared its choice already.
Lets see if the NaMo mantra will cross the major barriers of objecting allies or not !! 🙂
Well, sounds like a fairy tale.As if Rahul Gandhi does not know that if, at all, UPA gets a third chance to serve the nation, it would surely be his last opportunity to take the driving seat and probably make things happen for Congress. In the opposition, the Cold War between Bihar’s CM, Nitish Kumar, and Gujarat’s CM, Narendra Modi, may take a bigger shape if Modi is selected as the prime ministerial candidate for NDA.
Congress indicates , Manmohan may serve third term if UPA wins , while Rahul is not being kept totally away from the gossip on the topic. On the other side, BJP is also yet to clear its stands on whether Modi is the prime ministerial candidate for NDA or not. To add on, Mulayam Singh’s re-indication of formation of a Third-Front by the year end, is adding on to the confusion.
It all looked like,Rahul Vs Modi, till 2012 but now things are getting blur. No matter what the combination may come out as, one thing is assured, with Modi proving to be the most suitable Prime Ministerial candidate amongst any names we take throughout the country , it would never be easy for Rahul Gandhi to get the seat without proving his worth, ever.
