TMC has ultimately declared support to its UPA candidate, Pranab Mukherjee for the Presidential Post and it is quite likely that the party would also support Hamid Ansari of its UPA alliance for Vice-President’s post ! Was this the call of the moment or was it Pranab Mukherjee’s troubleshooting talent, whatever it be, Congress would be the ultimate beneficiary. Follow Detailed News
Today both Pranab Mukherjee and P.A.Sangma filed their nomination papers for the Prsidential Poll ! With almost all parties declaring their support to either of these two candidates, it is clear that Pranab Mukherjee is more likely to be the President. However, the twist in the tale remain intact with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee not disclosing her preferred candidate out of the two contestants. She was supporting Dr Kalam to be the President who declined to contest and Ms Banerjee is now left with PA Sangma as the only option, as she has been against Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature.
Nobody can take away the benefits Congress is going to get if Pranab Mukherjee, the troubleshooter of the party, becomes the President of India. Serving the second term in alliance has been difficult for the UPA government led by Congress. If not all, at least Mamata Banerjee has never been thinking alike, rejecting many Congress decisions, including the recent issue of not supporting Pranab Mukherjee for Presidential Post.
In case there is any dispute between Mamata led TMC and Congress and they decide to split, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would support the UPA government,as it seems till date. But Congress would rather prefer sticking to TMC till 2014 General Elections.
However, if and once Pranab Mukherjee becomes the President of India and as expected, if there is a mixed election result of 2014 , where both the UPA and NDA doubt clear win, it would be a call of the President and then all the present effort to push Pranab Mukherjee on President’s chair would yield results in favour of Congress ! No denying that all these are expectations and assumptions and only 2014 knows what it has in its bag for Indian Politics !
TMC supremo and key-ally of UPA government, Mamata Banerjee had stated on Thursday that she and SP head,Mulayam Singh Yadav were steadfast in their support for Dr Abdul Kalam as the next president . However, on Friday the SP extended support to Pranab Mukherjee’s candidature. Mulayam Singh Yadav has been known for changing decisions, at the very last moment, many a times in his political career and this time it was Didi, the leader known for sticking by her words,on the suffering end! The TMC has termed Mr Singh a Traitor and has recalled that they still support Dr Kalam for the Presidential Candidature.
The ever unhappy allies TMC and Congress of the UPA alliance has a different view on the selection of Presidential Candidate as well. Mamata Banerjee has cleared her support for Dr APJ Kalam and even the NDA is indicating its interest towards Dr Kalam and Samajwadi Party Supremo seems to be supporting Mamata’s decision. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee also stated that she would leave if the UPA thinks her party is a liability to the alliance.
Congress, on the other hand, is doing all it would take to make Pranab Mukherjee the President.
Well, out of the two candidates,Dr Kalam and Pranab Mukherjee, undoubtedly the position is much deserved by Dr Kalam whom one can trust as a President of deeds. He would never take decisions partially favouring any specific political party at the cost of national interest. But 2014 elections results are so predictable about an upcoming inconsistent government that Congress well not leave any stones unturned to make sure Pranab Mukherjee becomes the President to favour the Congress in situations of political crises. Anyways,it is Indian Politics and anytime a third name may emerge and become the President, to surprise the nation! 🙂
Professors in Bengal seem to be having a hard time under the new Government in Bengal. Some days back, a professor was detained by cops and embarrassed by local party leaders for the ‘character assassination’ of the Chief Minister of state which he did via a cartoon and mailed it to few known people !
Now there is professor Debashis Sarkar, who teaches at the government-run Jhargram Raj College in the state’s Midnapore District, has been served notice by the state’s education department and has been asked to explain his recent criticism of the government on local TV channels. 🙁 .
Well, seems like the new government of Bengal is giving a clear indication to professors and teachers that they should better stick to what they are paid for and are good at and leave politics on professionals in the same stream !
Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Minister, Science and Technology and also the president of Maharashtra Cricket Association had visited Kolkata along with the Prime Minister. Mamata Banerjee (didi), utilized the opportunity to ask him to reconsider West Bengal’s brand ambassador and Kolkata Knight Rider Team co-owner, Shah Rukh Khan’s ban from entering Wankhade stadium(which is under MCA) for 5 years. Well, SRK deserves such favors from didi not only because he is the brand ambassador for the state but also because his KKR team won the IPL cup for the city 😉 !
TMC led by Bengal Chief Minister ,Mamata Banerjee enjoys a prominent place in any major decision-making issue of the Central Govt. This time it the selection of the next President of India which brings her to play the important role . While the Congress wants to push its own candidate for the spot, it has to convince other parties including its allies to support it. So far, Pranab Mukherjee of the Congress is the most talked about candidate however, TMC’s support in making him the president of India, is almost mandatory. Meanwhile, Ms Banerjee had a meeting with Manmohan Singh on Bengal’s finance where the state is under huge debts from the centre. Well, it may be a possibility that Ms Banerjee may bag the deal of getting a waiver on previous loans from centre in return of her party’s support to Congress chosen President.
Mamata Banerjee Government in its yet another plan to remove the red of communism from West Bengal has proposed a significant amendment in history syllabus of the state board. A state government appointed committee has proposed to restructure higher secondary history syllabus removing what it refers as an overemphasis on communist thinkers Marx and Engels.
Well, didi(Mamata Banerjee) has been making constant efforts to eradicate the remains of the ‘Red-Ghost’- CPM and in the process she is not only adding on to her lists of criticisms but also reminding Bengal of ‘Porivorton’ (Change), which people wanted but may not have thought what it actually would turn out to be! Point is ,what good, banning newspapers, transferring IPS officers and changing history book syllabus, would do ? Should not the TMC government be busy doing things they promised about development rather than attacking, self-made ‘Red-Ghost’ out of CPM, which itself is in no shape to revive, unless the TMC government repeatedly gives it ‘food of controversies’ to capitalize and regain its support ?
