Prime Minister,Manmohan Singh, has sent a strong warning to Italy to send the two Italian marines back to India who are facing charges of killing two Indian fishermen . With orders from Supreme Court of India the two marines were allowed to go back to Italy for attending elections and were scheduled to be coming back within 22nd of March’13. While the Italian Foreign Ministry has declared that the marines won’t be sent back to India for trial, all the pre-assurance from the officials of the country to the Supreme Court of India stood void. With the opposition targeting the government for being ‘soft’ on the issue because it has to do with Italy , PM Singh probably had to warn Italy of ‘consequences’ if the marines are not returned !
Looks like, the issue is bound to take up a big shape soon. Till then India should be celebrating that our PM has broken his silence at last and its a clear message -” Don’t Angry Me” . 🙂
PM singh sends stern warning to Italy to send accused marines back for trial in India
Released after 105 days in judicial custody under strict bail conditions and assurances from the Italian Government, the two marines of an Italian Navy Vessel Protection Detachment (VPD) accused for killing two Indian fishermen from Kerala, mistaking them as pirates, are not going to come back to India for the court trial as announced by the Italian Foreign Ministry.
They were released to travel to Italy in February, this year, to vote in national elections and now Italy has put on stake the diplomatic relationship with India by dishonouring their commitment to Indian Supreme Court of letting the accused marines back to India for trial.
The Indian Foreign Ministry looks speechless( as mostly expected) and the Indian government has stated the act is ‘not acceptable'(as usual and as if saying this would make any difference to Italy) . The opposition has been accusing the Government of being ‘soft’ on the issue. Why ? 🙂
Italy not to send back marines to India charged for Kerela fishermen murder
While, some may argue,it is a shameful act on part of Italy to falsify its own assurances but it also speaks about the kind of importance they give to their citizens and for which they have gone to the extent of giving forged assurances and risking diplomatic relation with a country they have been friendly with since decades. Two Indian lives were taken by two Italians and it would really be important to know if our administrators are as bothered about us (be it,after our death) as much the Italian Government is bothered about their lives !
Or Like the opposition, even you accuse the Indian government of being ‘soft’ on the issue ? 😉
Just out of the topic , the Indian government could win awards for using two words most frequently, to address any issue- We Condemn (say …if there is a terror attack ) and the second is -Its Unacceptable (say…if Pakistan denies its hand in terror attacks ) . Can we have some serious actions against nations taking India so lightly ? Please ?
A Congress leader from Bangalore has sent a legal notice to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi asking him to apologise and withdraw his remarks calling Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh a “night watchman” of the Gandhi family !
😀 Just a thought !
What will happen at Congress Senior leader,Digvijay Singh’s office if he starts getting legal notices for passing remarks. He never spares passing remarks (derogatory, mostly, not always 😀 ) anyone who dares standing against Congress ? 😀 He would become an undisputed back to back record holder of most number of legal notices for passing remarks . 🙂
Modi served legal notice for Night Watchman remark on PM Singh
Indian ferocious opener, Virender Sehwag, has been dropped from Team India for the next two test matches against Australia because of his continued crippled performance !
Although, confident Sehwag says he will be back in the team soon, it reminds me of his issues with Captain M.S.Dhoni! Will he get a chance again till Dhoni remains the captain ? 🙂
The rift between Dhoni and Sehwag has made it to the news many a times in the recent past.
