The US resolution against Sri Lanka over alleged human rights violations has been passed at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva with 25 countries, including India, favouring the resolution while 13 against(included Pakistan) and 8 abstained from voting (includes Japan) !
While,Sri Lanka claims the war to finish Tamil terrorism and issues related to it are its internal matters and that US has no rights to intervene, India’s voting against Sri Lanka is bound to tense relation with its small yet strategically placed neighbour(which shares healthy relation with China and Pakistan) . Interestingly,Pakistan voted in favour of Sri Lanka.
UNHRC: India votes against Sri Lanka
Beni Prasad Verma , the much controversial Union Steel Minister, who once belonged to the SP(now in Congress) had previously accused SP supremo ,Mulayam Singh of having ‘terrorist connections’ in a rally. This had created a big chaos in the House as well where Mulayam and Beni, attacked each other verbally. Beni did not seem being sorry about his statement while SP demanded his resignation from his post as a compensation of their supremo’s insult from the government. Meanwhile,DMK(an ally of current government) quit the government over the Sri Lanka issue which could cripple the government if SP (which is supporting the UPA government from outside) takes its hands off due to Beni’s statement !
While Beni Prasad went to meet Manmohan Singh , the Prime Minister, Sonia met Mulayam Singh (probably to convince him to calm down on Beni Prasad’s issue). Sooner than later, Beni Prasad stated he regretted if his remarks (on Mulayam) hurt sentiments and that he apologizes for the same . 😀
Well, this is what we call politics . Nobody is a permanent friend or foe ! 😀

The DMK has pulled out of the Congress-led UPAII coalition in protest against the government’s position on a United Nations resolution on the bloody end to Sri Lanka’s civil war with the separatist Tamil Tigers. The DMK wants India to add strong language to the UN Human Rights Council resolution to accuse Sri Lanka of “genocide,” and demand an international inquiry into possible war crimes.

Samajwadi Party completed its 1 year of government in Uttar Pradesh and keeping his promise , Chief Minister , Akhilesh Yadav has started distributing HP laptops to students of the state. The interesting thing about these laptops is all of them have a hard-to-change Wallpaper with SP supremo,Mulayam Singh and CM Akhilesh’s snap. 😀
The funniest part is , many students have ended up crashing or technically spoiling the laptop , in order to change the wallpaper with CM’s and SP supremo’s snap ! However, the service to these laptops is absolutely free from HP .
Noteworthy information about these laptops are :
Recipients will soon be warned by HP not to tamper with the BIOS to remove the politicians’ photos- they will stay on screen for five seconds.(You just cannot help it !) 😀
Do not think its a gift from the government. The laptop is government property and selling it, misusing it or destroying it can lead to legal consequences.(Its more to remind you that its the SP which availed the laptop to you for use only. Be thankful) 😀
