38-year-old, Akhilesh Yadav has been declared as the Chief Minister for Uttar Pradesh by Samajwadi Party. He would also be the youngest Chief-Minister of the State. Any guesses, why father Mulayam Singh Yadav , the much-anticipated candidate of the party opted out and allowed son Akhilesh to take charge ?
BJP, Congress and Media to be blamed for BSP defeat in Uttar Pradesh ?
Kumari Mayawati, now the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh , in her Press Conference , after resignation declared her defeat BJP and Congress as major reason of her party’s defeat as they helped polarisation of Muslim Vote Bank, as per her, which benefited the Samajwadi Party. Also she expressed that the Muslim voters were scared that BJP may gain power in the state hence they supported SP.
Well, BJP has been an under-dog in Uttar Pradesh and this is no hidden fact from the nation , forget about the state. The most shocking part has been that rather than blaming her own governance where scams got exposed and corrupt ministers were getting caught and to top it key people getting murdered while the enquiry kept deepening, she held other parties responsible for her defeat. The useless expense of multi-crores on Park and Statues seemed all right to her, guess ! As if people do not count on them. She also praised her government’s work comparing the condition in which BSP had taken charge of administration in 2007 and also assured media that soon people of the state would be fed up with SP which over-threw them with a massive majority win. She did not stop there and also calmly blamed the Media for hyping issues in favour of BJP and Congress and warned the media that soon voters would feel cheated by media for reporting in favour of Congress and BJP. She did not blame herself for stopping to held Janata Darbars which she used to during the initial days. She did not blame herself for not even meeting the officers in te administration for months.
Ayodhya shocked BJP after they lost it after 20 years to Samajwadi Party and similarly Rai Bareli and Amethi shocked Congress .Rai Bareli gave no result to Congress out of 5 seats in the constituency and Rahul’s Amethi managed 2 seats out of 5. Since the time Indira Gandhi , these two constituencies have been pride of Congress and SP thunder blew the hat of pride away!
Days before the results were declared and on the basis of exit-polls , Congress performance when analysed as bad , senior leaders went ahead shielding Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi, by considering themselves as responsible for the humiliating result that came into being today.Rita Bahuguna Joshi, the UP Congress Chief blamed the Candidates and defended for the loss and appreciated Rahul’s work.
Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid tried taking the responsibility in the media however, Rahul Gandhi has been courageous enough to accept that Congress has a lot to do in Uttar Pradesh to create an impact. He took the responsibility and declared results as a lesson to him as well. So Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid need not be showing any generosity by taking the congress loss on their shoulders. Rahul Gandhi also congratulated Mulayam Singh Yadav and son Akhilesh for their outstanding performance and assured he would continue to work for the welfare of the state.
Well, surely this is like a leader who takes the responsibility of loss not just the credit of win. Uttar Pradesh elections saw Rahul Gandhi as an aggressive campaigner trying to promote his party dead-hard and even after senior leaders trying to treat the prince of Gandhi kingdom like one and willing to take all failures on their name, Rahul Gandhi took the initiative to admit he was the one who should shoulder the defeat.
Is it the Akhilesh Yadav magic or the magic of non-performance by the BSP ? Whatever it is, Uttar Pradesh election results indicate clear intention of most of UPites to bring the SP government back and hence SP is about to win seats over 202 , the base mark for majority. This way it would not need help of either the Congress or the Independent Candidates to form Government.
However, this win does come with loads of expectations of development of the state in every field, be it industrial, educational or agricultural. Construction of Memorial Parks , Monuments and Statues cannot be claimed as development anymore!
Will it be SP+Congress ?
So far Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party, guided by son Akhilesh Yadav is heading towards lead over all other parties. As expected Bahujan Samaj Party of Mayawati seems to be getting out of power and Samajwadi Party seems to be making the government. In the worst case with the association of Congress, as BJP has declared they would not support either the SP or the BSP. 202 out of 403 seats would be the number of Majority which any party or a group of parties would need to form a government. SP seems to be getting over 150 plus seats so far and it might have to deal with Congress to cover up the gap as BJP would not support them and BSP is the major opponent with which SP itself would not be joining hands.
By the end of the day a clear picture of who would be governing Uttar Pradesh would be clear including what can be the likely change that can happen in 2014 General Elections!
As per media reports , Mamata Banerjee aka Didi Government has found a solution to control rapes in the state hence The Excise Department has disallowed (LCL) Late Closure Licenses to night-clubs for the coming month.
The late night alleged rape of a 37-year-old woman in a moving car , highlighted the fact that the incident took place while returning from a popular city night-club, at around 1:30 am and even the victim got friendly with the accused in the night-club itself.
How much will Mamata Banerjee be blamed ?
Initially, Didi gave a statement in haste, declaring the incident as fabricated and when proved true she was also criticized badly. And with 6 incidents of rape in a months time, coming in limelight, the TMC supremo seems getting deeper into controversies with her statements.Ban on late-night clubbing may have invited criticisms to the Bengal Chief Minister from Party Animals of the city.
However, it is not just the city of Kolkata and the Late-Night Party Lovers who are at risk but every woman and at any time of the day is unsafe in Bengal and in India. Face it! No city in India is safe. Highlighting Kolkata suddenly just because of change in Government would not be fair. Were the people of Bengal living perfectly under the Left rule? Had it been so, TMC would not have replaced them! The number of rapes reported in Bengal, in a month may equal Delhi’s weekly or may be daily numbers of similar crime. How many times do people question and criticize Sheila Dixit? Should Mamata Banerjee not be given a fair chance to take proper control of things rather than forced to make comments in haste .
Anticipations of SP winning with majority and probable alliance opportunities amongst the Big Parties to form government has been flooding news channels and sites. It is a noticeable fact that all the major parties have been blaming each other for something or the other , in their respective speeches during campaigning. Now it would be noteworthy if parties join hands to form government, as clear win for any party seems still doubtful, so far! Well, no matter whosoever wins , all the major parties including Congress,BJP,SP and BSP have got opportunities in the past and none left the opportunities to dishearten the state.
Votes in Uttar Pradesh are still divided on the basis of caste and religion and regardless the leaders be corrupt or inefficient they convince their voters either by blaming Central Government or by declaring corruption charges as conspiracy against them. It is not even the fault of voters, most of whom live in rural areas and are below or at par with poverty line. Literacy percent is still low and exposure to the outer world is very limited. In Uttar Pradesh, the major agenda should be development of the under-grown state and even the voters should think of benefits of the State as a whole and not just a community.
If we go by the media survey, Mulayam Singh’s Samajwadi Party has clear chances of winning the Uttar Pradesh Elections by majority.
Well, few years back, Media survey had declared NDA’s second session in General Elections and even the BJP seemed very confident and the result was drastically different.NDA ended up losing real bad !
