Supreme Court to hear Army Chief’s Plea over His Age Dispute!

General Vijay Kumar Singh’s filed petition to resolve the issue of his Date Of Birth would be heard by the Supreme Court today  and this is the first  time an army chief  has sued the government. Before the Court Session started the General had a meeting with Senior Leader of Congress, Pranab Mukherjee. It was anticipated that the meeting was to settle down the matter out of court.

The reason of dispute is two sets of records held in two branches of the army headquarters. The army chief, though, claiming he was born in May 10th,1951 as per his matriculation certificate – which is considered legal document to establish a proof of age. His complaint is that his age records were never corrected by different army branches and that the documents carrying the wrong year of birth should have been verified with the matriculation certificate. He admits a mistake made in filling up the UPSC form. The government however considered May 10th, 1950 as his date of birth on the basis of UPSC form and claims to have several other documents which can prove General’s year of Birth as 1950. The government also claims that General Singh could not seek any change in records after two years as per rules and this enough reason against General’s claim to consider 1951 as his year of birth now.

Whatever the court’s decision may be , one thing is clear that there are severe flaws in maintainance of records by the Indian army which came into limelight , thanks to the dispute. How come contradictory records were being maintained by the army for so long and no one bothered reconciling it. It was only when General raised the dispute, was it exposed. Now , what is the guarantee that this is the only case and in future no other army officer would highlight similar issues?

BMC Polls-Political Parties giving tickets to Underworld Dons or Their Relatives!

Country’s richest civic body, BMC, may soon feel the prominent presence of the underworld inside its official premises. BMC controls many land related sanctions which decides real estate deals in India’s financial capital,Mumbai. Real-State being a multibillion dollar industry in Mumbai, political parties are issuing party tickets to the aides of dons or their relatives just to secure space in BMC elections.

Soban Parwin fighting on a Samjwadi Party ticket is the nephew of Tareeq Parwin, once a  close associate of Dawood. The Republican Party self-praising upholder of Ambedkars ideals and claiming Buddhist influence is the chosen party for Chotta Rajan’s sister Sunita Chavan and nephew Satish. Previously, Arun Gawli, a  well-known gangster split from Shiv Sena to make his own party and now he being in jail , his office is handled by Geeta Gawli, his daughter.

Entry of Muscle Power is no news in Indian politics. Deadlier is the entry of Underworld-The Corporate Anti-Social Group. It is not one man but a group of well-organized, filthy rich  and socially influential people who wish to replace politicians(whom they might be bribing) to take direct control.

It is pity that India does not have any lawful and constitutional mechanism yet to stop such intrusions into politics of the country.

India versus Internet.Filter contents or face ban

Petitioner, Vinay Rai believes this is in public interest and he has filed this complaint as  ‘affected person’ who believes in a ‘secular India’. Vinay considers the content on sites like Google,Facebook , Twitter and other such sites , including blogging sites contain unfiltered materials which are dangerous for the community and peace and harmony of the nation. He does not want the sites to be banned in India but contents should be filtered by the networking sites and search engines before going public, in India.

It might be a coincidence that he raised his voice against these sites almost around the time when the Congress Minister, Kapil Sibal declared his discontent with such sites.

Well, his complaint was slightly different from his views of filtration of content. He has accused the issue as a conspiracy between authors and the respondents to defame India with  clear intentions to spread communal violence in the country.

Delhi High Courts decision might have contented him temporarily by asking these sites to filter contents in the interest of country else face ban like in China.

Point is, today, World is considered a Global – Village and indeed it is. Just by removing contents considered objectionable in the interest of a country can it be guaranteed the contents wont create their impact when they would be freely shown in other parts of world. Do Indians live only in India. Given such circumstances, an Indian staying in Europe may get to see such content and may call up back in India, and discuss the same stuff with his friends and family and that may spread anyways. In such situation people would just follow others version of story and may react more badly. Isn’t that possible?

Since the internet has become prominent source of communication and expression , in India and the world, users have witnessed unlimited content which hurt religious and patriotic sentiments and most of them do not retaliate as they are literate enough to understand  offender’s spineless frustration which might have forced him to talk or draw contents against a religion or country. The ones who might feel offended have the liberty to contradict, question and react. Nobody stops anyone. It is fair. How many times in India riots have taken place due to contents on the internet?

By banning sites or even by filtering contents are we not taking away an opportunity of discussion, an opportunity of debate, an opportunity of correcting and above all “freedom to speech and express” ?

Is this ban not a way of saying ‘ None speaks against me.’ Is it democracy and secular thought process or dictatorship , inside the couch of ‘being offended’?

A few group of hardliners can stop someone to speak out as it happened in case of Rushdie. Point is did his expression in his book inspire someone to change his faith and if it all it did so , he never deserved to be in the clan, good for the followers of faith that a hypocrite is gone.

It is not the content on the internet but our conscious mind which filters what to react on and how and that is how it has been happening since internet has become public.  And anyways, if a content  is strong enough to shake religious or patriotic faith then such faith in religion or nationality itself was fake. Do we  have ‘only’ admirers in our surrounding? The answer is NO  and even after knowing someone does not like us or our views or dressing, we do not go ahead and attack him. We carry on without even explaining, in most of the cases.

Moreover, if a nation has to take a decision on banning on internet or its content, it has to be put for voting, the way we elect our Government. Let the majority decide what they prefer.

Punjab Elections-Liquor for Votes!

Election Commission officials have seized over 79 lakh litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor during this poll campaign in Punjab. Nearly 3,60,000 bottles of country liquor were confiscated before being distributed to the voters. Another 63,000 litres of illegally distilled liquor has been seized.

Previously, 183 cartons of alcohol were seized from a truck in Akali Dal candidate Bibi Jagir Kaur’s constituency and hence she is booked for bribing voters. Another Akali Dal candidate, Swaroop Singla, also landed in trouble after organising a party for more than 200 people in a resort in Bhatinda, where booze flowed freely. Even Congress candidate from Jalandhar, Rajinder Beri was questioned by the media  after a sting operation revealed the investigating  journalist, posing as a voter, was  given a  piece of paper with a signature on it, when he asked for some incentive. All he had to do is show the slip in the nearby liquor shop to avail 6 bottles of liquor.

Cash and Liquor are the incentives given to vote in favour of respective political parties since long but its time the voters realize their moral responsibilities. Blaming the parties is easier but is it not a fact that if the crowd denies such unwanted incentives, this would cease to work for people who buy India’s future so cheaply.

We all want an honest government but when it comes to us, we become dishonest to ourselves. Its time we realize, Anna lies inside all of us and before supporting the Lokpal Bill we should support the Honest Human inside us which knows the difference between wrong and right clearly but ends up giving up infront of dishonesty.

‘After – Incident’ stories remaining the same where the accused got caught by the cops and political leader stated the incident as ‘unfortunate ‘ . The eye catching fact is , these incidents have become so common these days that even the News Sites do not bother elaborating the news and end it in a line or two.

Shoe Attack on Kejriwal

Beat Up ! Slap ! Throw Ink ! Throw Chappals and Shoes !

All these actions seem to have become a trend in our country . Are these self – motivated or well-planned opposition attacks? It is only the attacker who knows it best.

On Saturday,21st of January’2012 similar incident was repeated in Dehradun while Team Anna member , Arvind Kejriwal was heading towards the stage to address the gathered crowd. Identified attacker, Kishan Lal threw his shoe towards Kejriwal. His explanation for attacking was his response to insensitive statment given by Anna Hazare when NCP leader , Sharad Pawar was slapped. Well, such repeated attacks on Leaders from various walks of  life, seem pre-planned and politicaly motivated rather than genuine agitations.

UP Elections-Season of Promises

As the dates of U.P. elections are nearing by , the more is louding up the “Trumpets of the Elephants”(BSP), “the Rings of the Cycle Bells”(SP),”the Claps of the Hands”(Congress) and the Beauty and “Incense of the Lotus flower”(BJP).

Reminders of developments (so what ? if just the parks and the statues ) by the ruling party is getting louder.

Other contesting parties also recall the surprise visits , they (their leader) made by suddenly barging into farmers house(of course with the media) for dinner and pretending to be disghusted with the present conditions of  the farmers( as if , if they win, will give bungalows to the farmers ).

And some would not talk what they did and what others did not but directly come to the point that if they win the elections, what gifts can the citizens expect.

The embarassing fact about Political Elections in our country  is, we are made to choose between the Bad, Worse and the Worst and once we select best of the lott, it is the Bad Party which turns Worst and the cycle goes on!
