Dinesh Trivedi informed the media that he called up , TMC supremo , Mamata Banerjee and as she asked him to resign, he has final done so.
TMC supremo, Mamata Banerjee’s efforts to pull her own minister,Dinesh Trivedi, down from the post of Railway Minister has failed, so far as the PM clarified , he would want Trivedi to continue till the Budget Session. Now even the pressure from within the party seemed to be failing. Trivedi wants TMC supremo to give in writing that she wants him to quit! Some voices inside the TMC are also rising against the supremo’s stubborn behaviour towards Trivedi.
The speech of the Finance Minister,Pranab Mukherjee, was interrupted over trouble with the public address system, leading to a mild flutter and small protest hence Mukherjee stopped and checked his mike and asked the members if he should go over two paragraphs from his speech that he had already read out. One of the opposition member remarked that the finance minister was “rolling back” his speech.
Pranab Mukherjee smiled and answered, “Rollback of the speech, no problem,” and the House was full of laughter !
Guess, how many of TMC members laughed on the joke cracked at them ?
Mamata Banerjee’s demand to immediatly sack her own party member, Dinesh Trivedi , from the post of Railway Minister because he presented a Rail Budget which hiked ticket fares, has been declined by the Prime Minister , Manmohan Singh. Congress told Bengal Chief Minister that Trivedi should not be sacked at least till the end of Budget Session !
Well, even after being the Congress ally,TMC has difference of opinion with the UPA government on a number of issues and somehow Congress never seem to have dared against didi(Mamata Banerjee) for the fear of Government collapsing, before schedule (2014), in case , TMC withdraws support in agitation. However, this time the demands of Mamata Banerjee to sack Trivedi was declined on the face. What gave Congress the confidence to dare the TMC, all of a sudden ? Well, this is politics and hence there are no permanent friends and enemies, here.Quite possible, if SP(22 seats) or BSP(21 seats) supports UPA in case TMC(19 seats) withdraws the same , the Government would still continue and Mulayam Singh Yadav or Kumari Mayawati can easily bargain his/her support for bigger favours !
Akhilesh Yadav keeps his promise of providing tablets to class 10 pass outs of the state (any board) and laptops to class 12 pass outs (any board) and announces the same in the first cabinet meeting along with other promised freebies for the unemployed and the minorities .
Well, promising and announcing of freebies is common with all parties, after winning elections but how good would the implementation of the distribution plan would be, is a concerning question. Hopefully, laptops and tablets may not be staying accumulated at some administrative officer’s house or whosoever would be given the charge to distribute them. Hopefully, there does not arise another scam out of tablets and laptops and it reaches the right owner.
Still, what is the fate of Mayawati’s ‘Symbol of Pride’, after being declared to remain unhurt, by SP ?
15th March 2012, Akhilesh Yadav took the oath and now he is the Chief-Minister of nation’s biggest state. This reminds of him announcing on September 25th 2011 that Mayawati’s statues , both of herself and mostly of her Elephants (party symbol), would be demolished once the SP comes to power and when SP actually won with majority , he also announced , BSP symbol statues and Mayawati statues would remain unhurt. He showed his generosity and in a way he can always remind the proud Supremo of BSP,Mayawati, of SP’s rule, by letting the statues remain the way they are, literally! Again it is his choice how he wishes to treat those ‘Mayawati symbols of pride’ but surely he may not provide the statues with facilities of security -guards.When the state was dying with lack of food and jobs , the former CM managed to spend multi-crores in installing her symbols of pride and what is the fate of those symbols , now that her reign is over,is up to the ruling party SP. Will the statues, like all other statues of the nation, suffer from bird attacks ?
Railway Budget that derailed Railway Minister’s Chair !
Dinesh Trivedi, the Railway Minister remained in the news since the morning as the nation was awaiting the Railway Budget and when it was announced his own party became his biggest critic because the budget favoured increasing ticket fares. TMC which has never favoured hike in price from fuel to fare stood by its principles and the Supremo of TMC, Mamata Banerjee ultimately has asked the Prime Minister to sack her own party member, Dinesh Trivedi from the post of Railway Minister and replace him with Mukul Roy of the party. TMC demanded a rollback however, Trivedi stood by his budget even after knowing it could cost his chair as he reasoned the fare hike mandatory for the smooth running of the railways and also to increase the safety of the passengers! TMC has never lost any opportunity to capitalize on situations where there is any kind of price hike, be it reasonable or not and this time they have ended up sacrificing one of their prominent members in the Centre.Price hike will never be prefered by anyone be it rich or poor or the middle-class but it does not raise eyebrows provided it makes sense and price hike in railway fare for the reasons of paying back previous loans,to avail smooth running of the railways and to increase safety of passengers, hopefully makes sense to most , if not all.
Didi and top TMC leaders skip PM dinner invite!
After the top TMC leaders skipped PM’s dinner with allies on Tuesday, today Congress Senior Leader , Pranab Mukherjee warned allies to stand together or the UPA government may fall. Well, it may be targeted on TMC supremo , Mamata Banerjee, as she has been having continued differences with the Congress on quite a number of issues including NCTC where TMC has been demanding amendments!
Although,TMC has cleared that they do not wish to destabilize the UPA , it seems the difference of opinions between Congress and TMC is widening more with the advent of time.
