Supreme Court to hear Army Chief’s Plea over His Age Dispute!

General Vijay Kumar Singh’s filed petition to resolve the issue of his Date Of Birth would be heard by the Supreme Court today  and this is the first  time an army chief  has sued the government. Before the Court Session started the General had a meeting with Senior Leader of Congress, Pranab Mukherjee. It was anticipated that the meeting was to settle down the matter out of court.

The reason of dispute is two sets of records held in two branches of the army headquarters. The army chief, though, claiming he was born in May 10th,1951 as per his matriculation certificate – which is considered legal document to establish a proof of age. His complaint is that his age records were never corrected by different army branches and that the documents carrying the wrong year of birth should have been verified with the matriculation certificate. He admits a mistake made in filling up the UPSC form. The government however considered May 10th, 1950 as his date of birth on the basis of UPSC form and claims to have several other documents which can prove General’s year of Birth as 1950. The government also claims that General Singh could not seek any change in records after two years as per rules and this enough reason against General’s claim to consider 1951 as his year of birth now.

Whatever the court’s decision may be , one thing is clear that there are severe flaws in maintainance of records by the Indian army which came into limelight , thanks to the dispute. How come contradictory records were being maintained by the army for so long and no one bothered reconciling it. It was only when General raised the dispute, was it exposed. Now , what is the guarantee that this is the only case and in future no other army officer would highlight similar issues?

BMC Polls-Political Parties giving tickets to Underworld Dons or Their Relatives!

Country’s richest civic body, BMC, may soon feel the prominent presence of the underworld inside its official premises. BMC controls many land related sanctions which decides real estate deals in India’s financial capital,Mumbai. Real-State being a multibillion dollar industry in Mumbai, political parties are issuing party tickets to the aides of dons or their relatives just to secure space in BMC elections.

Soban Parwin fighting on a Samjwadi Party ticket is the nephew of Tareeq Parwin, once a  close associate of Dawood. The Republican Party self-praising upholder of Ambedkars ideals and claiming Buddhist influence is the chosen party for Chotta Rajan’s sister Sunita Chavan and nephew Satish. Previously, Arun Gawli, a  well-known gangster split from Shiv Sena to make his own party and now he being in jail , his office is handled by Geeta Gawli, his daughter.

Entry of Muscle Power is no news in Indian politics. Deadlier is the entry of Underworld-The Corporate Anti-Social Group. It is not one man but a group of well-organized, filthy rich  and socially influential people who wish to replace politicians(whom they might be bribing) to take direct control.

It is pity that India does not have any lawful and constitutional mechanism yet to stop such intrusions into politics of the country.

Lawfully objectionable contents be removed-Google Initiatives

Future of Blogging – Need All Be Politically Correct Before Being Blogged ?

Since Google is continuously getting content filtration and removal requests from around the world, the company has decided to comply with local laws , similar to Twitter. Even in India the Lower Court has asked major websites like google, twitter and facebook to remove ‘objectionable contents’ else may face bans in the country!

Now anyone accessing blogger.com is redirected to the country’s Country Code Top Level Domain. That means if  Blogger.com is accessed from India it would now be redirected to blogspot.in ;  ‘.in’ being the Country – Code Top Level Domain for India .

This way Google will be able to comply with valid removal requests pursuant to local laws of different countries. However, the content removed in a country due to its law would be available in other countries where the content is not an issue. This applies to the contents of bloggers who are availing  blogger.com services, under the blogger.com subdomain(e.g.-mysay.blogspot.com) only. Does it mean bloggers who own their domains and are powered by blogger.com, may be directly answerable for any contents violating their country’s law ?

Now that Google  – ‘ ‘The Internet God’, has taken this decision, soon others will follow including WordPress and other similar service providers.

What puzzles is thinking about the bigger picture which might appear in the coming future : Will the bloggers be getting specific guidelines, by their respective countries as to what topics they can and cannot express their views on  and guidelines on  how should their expressions be portrayed in words, photographs and sketches? What comes under the parameter of  ‘Objectionable Content’ ?

But the question is ‘Who decides, what content is offending for whom ?’ For instance , if a country is going through recession and a blogger feels it  is the present government which is responsible and has his own valid points to express, would he not be allowed to blog as his writings may spread unrest and thereby offend the Government of the country ?

If this is what filtration of contents mean then why not other sources of information and communication be included too? Television and Print Media are mostly run by corporates and they can be put under pressure by Governments of countries and influential corporates and businessmen , if need be. Whereas, the Internet is the only source of communication and information where everyone is free to express about any matter , the way he/she feels about it. Is this unrest from several Governments, all over the world, not against the ‘Freedom Of  Thought And Speech’ of the common citizens of  their countries ?

Army Jawans Clashed with Policemen in Pune!

army jawans clash with traffic police in Pune

Pune Once Again Makes News!

Pune,31st January ‘2012 at around 9 am, two army jawans riding a motorcycle picked up a fight with traffic policemen when they stopped the army men  from going into a no-entry zone for two-wheelers, at Tilak Chowk. The argument turned violent after police constables tried to issue a ‘challan’. Some civilians who tried to break up the fight were also beaten up. Police teams and Army men in six vehicles rushed at the spot to ease down the situation.

But later, about 40 Army personnel went to the police station and damaged it. A case has now being filed over the clash and Army assured strict action against jawans found guilty.

All in all , Pune seem to have become a city always in news, starting this year . Be it, the mentally unstable bus-driver who ransacked vehicles and ended up killing 9 people, and then three people being burnt alive, part of some gang-rivalry and now the cops and the army raging against each other. Who knows, soon MNS activists may ransack some offices or beat-up some auto-rickshaw drivers just to retain Pune in news !
