Remember, the Pied Piper nursery rhyme?
With the arrival of 2014 accompanying AAP govt in the national capital, the battle of 2014 General Elections is becoming intense and the results are looking unpredictable, yet again. In between, it seemed,BJP led by Narendra Modi with the mantra of -DEVELOPMENT would make it to the power. If not a clean sweep by BJP, surely, the NDA , as a whole, may have formed its Govt in Centre. But,to the astonishment of many political analysts ,major political parties and the common man, Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal did immensely well in the Delhi Polls and although they managed 28 seats out of 70,they ended up making their govt in Delhi with the support of Congress. BJP chose to be in the opposition with 31 seats.
However, the results in Delhi gave AAP the confidence to think national. They have chosen 10 states and are aiming 100 seats for the upcoming General Elections. Now,the present scenario assures that those who are fed up of both the BJP and Congress but chose BJP over Congress, may opt for AAP . Moreover,AAP has managed to wake up those sections of voters who considered voting a waste of time. Those who prefer keeping themselves away from politics, all in all,as they felt their votes would hardly make a difference to clean the corrupt politics of India.
Looks like the Pied Piper playing the flute of ‘development in Gujarat’ will have to compete with another Pied Piper playing the flute of ‘Commoners fight against Corruption by Indian politicians’. By the way, what is Rahul Gandhi planning for 2014 GE ? 😀 please click on the image for better view
Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde gave an advice for Arvind Kejriwal , the new Chief Minister of Delhi,on how to run a coalition government. He sited example of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the matter and asked Kejriwal to learn from Dr Singh how to run a government in coalition. The Congress has given support to AAP with its eight seats from outside to help run AAP’s government in Delhi.Although AAP is supported by Congress ,it is not refraining from making statements against Congress and BJP.
Is that the way coalition govt work? Isn’t coalition govt an unsaid understanding between parties where the supporting party should be kept happy at any cost ? 😀 What better could have been an example of how to run a coalition govt than our UPAII govt? 😉
While Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP head, is all set to take oath at the Ram Lila Maidan as the next Chief Minister of Delhi, his challenges are already knocking his doors. With the steep rise of Rs4.50 per kg of CNG,the auto-drivers have decided to go on strike protesting the same and asking for a hike in fare. AAP’s promise of free water and cheap electricity to Delhi already poses a big challenge. All in all,its action time for Kejriwal and Team, before even joining office.
AAP , the new political party in the nation and Arvind Kejriwal , the activist turned politician has given Sheila Dikshit and Congress great defeat in Delhi Assembly Polls and has come out as a strong contender for both the Congress and BJP. Interestingly, out of the 70 seats , AAP , the first timer in politics, has won 28 seats. BJP has managed 32 seats falling 4 short of getting the throne of Delhi. Congress has failed to manage even two figures.
Sheila Dikshit , has already resigned from the Chief Minister’s post.Pre-elections,she was heard claiming 2013 Delhi Assembly Elections was as usual a tough fight between Congress and BJP and did not consider Arvind Kejriwal and his AAP party any threat. Even BJP gave similar but balanced statements about AAP. However, the acceptance of AAP in Delhi shows the impact they have been able to create. The impact of the India Against Corruption Movement started by Anna Hazare and the decision of Arvind Kejriwal to enter into politics to curb corruption has got a warm welcome from the capital of the country.
Tougher task ahead for Arvind Kejriwal of keeping the faith of his supporters intact and for good.
The BJP, on the other hand , won 3 states – Rajasthan,Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh but the impact of NaMo wind could not stop the broom-man Arvind Kejriwal from being a spoiler for BJP.Although they got 32 seats in Delhi, they are 4 short of making a govt there. But so far,the trend for 2014 General Elections seem to be getting clearer.
In an interview, Sheila Dikshit, the CM of Delhi said she hopes to win it for the 4th time for her party,Congress, and also admitted that although activist turned politician , Arvind Kejriwal, has managed to catch people’s imagination but she has sincere doubts on the conversion of the same into votes. After all, Kejriwal and his party,AAP , is undoubtedly too new to fight the big guns of the politics keep aside winning.

Looks like fasts against governments do not bother Indians !! So far, all fasts,in the recent past have failed and Kejriwal, the activist turned politician who is also diabetic, has lost 7 kgs in 11 days indicating even this fast would fail. Arvind Kejriwal is on a fast against inflated water and electricity bills in Delhi. While the party claims there have been lakhs of people signing the ‘ bijli-paani satyagrah ‘pledge,it looks like nothing would actually change.Kejriwal has pledged people not to pay their power bills(and everyone else would pay the bills except for him, I suppose). With the summers knocking the door who would risk a permanent power and water cut? The Delhi government inspired by its counterpart at the Centre (after all they are the same political party) and the Prime Minister , prefers remaining deaf ears while Kejriwal’s detoriating health may soon put him off the fast .
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister,Sheila Dikshit had her birthday celebrated by party members on 31st March and was seen enjoying a chocolate cake on the occasion ! 😉
While Anna Hazare has criticized the new draft of Lokpal Bill by the government, his team member ,Kiran Bedi, said it met most of the demands of a strong lokpal and is a baby step towards the same.Arvind Kejriwal , the ex-Team Anna member and the ‘Aam Aadmi Party’ chief has also declared his dissatisfaction with the new draft.
The name,Anna Hazare, got popular with the same Lokpal Bill issue which he wanted to be passed by the government, to curb down corruption in India and the same Lokpal Bill made him head a team called ‘ Team Anna’ and then differences of opinion made Arvind Kejriwal, a prominent Team Anna member split and launch his political party- the Aam Aadmi Party-a political solution to fight corruption in India and all this paced down the India Against Corruption Movement led by Anna. Now it seems like another key member Kiran Bedi has a difference of opinion with Anna.Hopefully, she sticks around with Anna. 🙂
The government,on the other hand, has not only been quite successful in curbing down the much-hyped ‘India Against Corruption Movement’ but has also successfully reduced the strength and impact of Anna and his Team.Kudos to the art of silence of our Prime Minister ‘Maun'(means silence in Hindi)mohan Singh, the India Against Corruption Movement slowly and yet steadily lost its leadership, pace, goal and ultimately the interest and support of usually reluctant to react- ‘Aam Aadmi'(common man). Well, the mystery remains unsolved if it was Team Anna itself or a clever brain of the Govt behind the sabotage of a world renowned movement led by Anna. 🙂
Anna Hazare ,the anti-corruption crusader, who seems pathless after Arvind Kejriwal (ex key Team Anna Member) decided to join politics to curb corruption, leaving Anna and his anti-corruption movement directionless, has declared he wont vote for Kejriwal’s party as he feels Kejriwal is power hungry.Previously,as well, he had given similar statements against Kejriwal and Kejriwal remain silent.
Is this a genuine feedback about Arvind Kejriwal by his ex-boss, Anna Hazare or is it just dissatisfaction as the focus of the world has shifted from Anna and ‘India Against Corruption’ Movement to Arvind Kejriwal and his ‘Aam Admi Party’? 😉
