They were released to travel to Italy in February, this year, to vote in national elections and now Italy has put on stake the diplomatic relationship with India by dishonouring their commitment to Indian Supreme Court of letting the accused marines back to India for trial.
The Indian Foreign Ministry looks speechless( as mostly expected) and the Indian government has stated the act is ‘not acceptable'(as usual and as if saying this would make any difference to Italy) . The opposition has been accusing the Government of being ‘soft’ on the issue. Why ? 🙂
While, some may argue,it is a shameful act on part of Italy to falsify its own assurances but it also speaks about the kind of importance they give to their citizens and for which they have gone to the extent of giving forged assurances and risking diplomatic relation with a country they have been friendly with since decades. Two Indian lives were taken by two Italians and it would really be important to know if our administrators are as bothered about us (be it,after our death) as much the Italian Government is bothered about their lives !
Or Like the opposition, even you accuse the Indian government of being ‘soft’ on the issue ? 😉
Just out of the topic , the Indian government could win awards for using two words most frequently, to address any issue- We Condemn (say …if there is a terror attack ) and the second is -Its Unacceptable (say…if Pakistan denies its hand in terror attacks ) . Can we have some serious actions against nations taking India so lightly ? Please ?
What will happen at Congress Senior leader,Digvijay Singh’s office if he starts getting legal notices for passing remarks. He never spares passing remarks (derogatory, mostly, not always 😀 ) anyone who dares standing against Congress ? 😀 He would become an undisputed back to back record holder of most number of legal notices for passing remarks . 🙂
Kohinoor, the 105 karat diamond which is among one of the largest diamonds in the world and is on display in Tower Of London was taken away from India by the British during the colonial era. While,India has been requesting it back since decades , today the British Prime Minister declined any chances of the diamond being returned back siting his disbelief in ‘returnism’ and that the country is anyways taking care of it. He also visited the Jaliawala Bagh and declared the incident of 1919( where the police opened fire at unarmed civilians killing and wounding 100s at the Jaliawalah Bagh) as shameful.
