The RBI has asked citizens not to use currency notes as garlands as they not only deface the notes but also shorten their lives. Mark of love around the bridegroom’s neck or mark of might and power around politicians’ neck(and there is one politician who truly flaunts the garlands of currency notes 🙂 ) , the garlands indeed deface the value of currency besides shortening its life-span.
