23 children, between the ages of 5 and 12, were poisoned to death by the free lunch served at their school in the village of Masrakh in Bihar. Post-Mortem reports indicate insecticides in food consumed by the kids while the State Govt smells some conspiracy. Meanwhile,The Ministry of HRD declared that they had warned the Bihar govt in April over problems faced by the mid day meal scheme in the state. India’s midday meal scheme is one of the world’s biggest school nutrition programs, providing food as an incentive for poor parents to send their children to school and this is not for the first time the quality of Mid-Day Meal has created problems.
The government has cleared the creation of a Mountain Strike Corps costing about Rs 640000 crores specifically aimed at counter-attacking China, if required. Although this is a good move but Chinese have already developed infrastructure near borders like roads and soon they will be connected through railways. This simply means they can get their troops added up lot faster than India. India after remaining laid back for years has initiated the move but it would take about 7 long years to build an infrastructure capable to counter-answer Chinese attacks. There are a number of other major challenges to build roads near borders.Meanwhile,China may call this Indian act as provocative and may attack.
Well,India has been ignoring Chinese invasion and provocation since decades.China has always been able to sustain pressure on India , be it on matters related to South China Sea,Tibet or border attacks. Interestingly, China is friendly to countries like Pakistan , Sri Lanka and Myanmar. Point is, how long will China continue to claim Indian land as its-They want whole of Arunachal Pradesh and claim lot more areas of other states too.
Who wants war but if forced India is bound to lose land and lives. 🙁 The question is – what have been the several Govts of India doing since 65 plus years ? Why our administrators never took stern decisions against Chinese even after losing a war and lot of land against them in the past ?
As the Indian economy suffers under crisis, the government says it is fighting the slowdown with number of measures.Finance Minister, P Chidambaram is of the view that there are many countries with 0% growth rate while India is still maintaining 5-6 % growth and that was great. The Planning Commission Deputy Chairperson, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said that a GDP growth of 5.7 per cent in FY14 would indicate that the economy is on a rebound.
Numbers are numbers. Aren’t they ? If numbers could give all the Indians two meals a day, we would have been the happiest economy. The ground reality is altogether different. You feel the pinch with the rising prices of the day-to-day things you buy while the earnings remain stuck at what it were an year back .
Thanks to the genius economists in the government , at least on papers, we will continue to grow. 🙂
BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit, in order to show the popularity of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, is collecting a registration fee of Rs 5 per person to attend a public meeting to be addressed by its election campaign committee chief (Modi)in Hyderabad on August 11.Interestingly,keeping in mind Modi’s following in the virtual world, the registration is available online and the party claims, about 40,000 people have already registered and the party hopes that it will go up to at least 70,000.The fund so collected is going for relief of Uttarakhand flood victims.
Now,that sounds like a bold step to check the ground reality of the magic of NaMo mantra floating in the virtual and media world . 🙂
NaMo Fans happy ?
Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, a suspect in the Bofors scam, that gave Congress real tough time for decades, has died of a heart attack in Milan.in 2011, CBI had dropped the cases against him declaring lack of evidence however the former CBI chief ,Joginder Singh, claimed the investigating body was in tremendous pressure from the government while probing the bofors scam. Quattrocchi allegedly acted as a middleman in the scam and his closeness to the Gandhi family and success in evading trial in India have long raised questions on whether he was shielded by the Congress.
While officially, he was no more threat to the Congress after CBI dropped the cases against him, still, the unofficial chance of knowing the exact truth of Bofors Scam seem to have been buried with the death of Quattrocchi.
In an interview to Reuters,Gujarat’s CM , Narendra Modi claimed he was innocent in the Gujarat riots. To add on he said while driving if a puppy comes under the wheel, it will be painful and that even he is a human being. If something bad happens anywhere, it is natural to be sad.
Congress and other parties were quick to pick up the analogy and hit out at him for using the puppy word in the context of the riots while BJP was busy defending the statement by Modi.
Chak De India promoted Hockey and it got dearer to Indian since then although it was an important sport 2 decades back.
Bhag Milkha Bhag is expected to promote athletics of the nation.Previously,Paan Singh Tomar had promoted the same.
Prior to that, Apne was all about Boxing and Bend it Like Beckham and Goal promoted football . There are many more movies which are a reason why the Indians are thinking beyond cricket.
But is bollywood’s impact limited to Sports ? 😉
As per an IBN NEWS article bollywood’s Dabang actor Salman Khan ‘communicated’ to an entertainment journalist(Soumyadipta Banerjee) to convince him to take down the blog post he had written in connection with Khan’s hit-and-run case.In the post he had mentioned about police constable Late Ravindra Patil describing how he absconded, under pressure, being a witness of the hit-and-run case against Salman Khan and how he died of TB and his last words.
The IBN NEWS article has links of the post written by the journalist which he has removed from his blog(but is available on the net) and also the post link on the journalist’s website where he apologizes to Salman Khan for posting the previous post on Ravindra Patil and declares he has deleted it from his blog.
Well, when it comes to Celebs, opinions differ. Some say the celeb should be spared and some are too strict wanting the celeb to be severely punished. After all, a coin has two sides. Reading the post on Ravindra Patil, I can conclude at least , in India , money matters over lives .
People , I would request you to read the article by Mr Banerjee which I read and then make an opinion,if at all you wish to. I am not for Salman Khan and not against him. I do not need to have an opinion about him. But I have an opinion about how my country, our country, treats celebs and commoners.I feel ashamed !
