Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam not contesting for President’s Post !

Dr Kalam conveyed his message of opting out from the President’s Poll to BJP Senior Leader, Lal Krishna Advani and this has left the NDA alliance in a fix. Dr Kalam was the only candidate the NDA was willing to build consensus on.Parties like Akalidal and JDU of the NDA are willing to support Pranab Mukherjee, the contestant from the UPA. Seems like there is no stopping for Pranab Mukherjee with Dr Kalam dropping the idea of contesting for the President’s Post.

Well, it does make sense to expect the President of India(at least) to be out of Corruption charges . It is the highest and most esteem position and should be handed over to equally competent individual and ironically, our Political System is looking forward to utilize even President’s Post for its interest ! 🙁

Tennis Row-After Bhupathi,Bopanna declines partnering Peas ?

The All India Tennis Association seems to be adamant about sending Leander Peas and Mahesh Bhupathi only as Lawn Tennis Doubles Partner for the London Olympics, while Bhupathi has declined partnering Peas as they do not share healthy personal relation and Mahesh Bhupathi feels like it has happened in the past , even in this Olympics the doubles would not do wonders. Rohan Bopanna has also declined partnering  with Peas , attracting chances of 2 years of ban for both Bopanna and Bhupathi for not listening to the AITA. Sania Mirza who may get a chance through wild-card entry is also interested in partnering with Bhupathi over Peas !

Whatever the reason may be but is it fair on the players’ part to give importance to their personal differences over the nation ? Who Leander Peas personally is, or, for that matter, Bopanna ,Bhupathi or Sania are has nothing to do with the fact that all of these are Top Indian Lawn Tennis Players and it is their prime duty to think of National Interest first. They can fetch the nation medals easily if they forget their personal differences (at least for the Olympics) and play for the nation !

ACP Vasant Dhoble’s war against Mumbai landmark restaurants and pubs?

Assistant Commissioner Of Police, who heads Mumbai’s Social Service branch has been facing criticisms from many citizens for what they term as ‘Taliban-ising’ Mumbai. Mumbai’s pubs, bars and restaurants  have been allegedly targeted by the ACP and his men and has terribly terrorized the nightlife of the city with suddenly imposed age-old laws, as claimed by some known people of the city.

His raids on city’s known restaurants and bars with hockey stick and cameras ,in the recent few days, have raised eyebrows amongst many who consider this unnecessary. To add on, a week before, two women sued the police for defamation because they were arrested for being prostitutes in a raid which was led by Mr Dhoble !

Well, if one thinks Mr Dhoble is just doing his job, then he should know that ACP Dhoble’s  track record has not been heroic. ACP Dhoble is claimed to be enjoying political patronage. He was suspended in 1989 for accepting a bribe in Pune. In 1994, he was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined a lakh for his role in a custodial death. He was dismissed from the force but reinstated in 1996, after his jail sentence was dismissed by the Mumbai High Court. Departmental probe on the matter is still on as per directions of Supreme Court!
