Nobody can take away the benefits Congress is going to get if Pranab Mukherjee, the troubleshooter of the party, becomes the President of India. Serving the second term in alliance has been difficult for the UPA government led by Congress. If not all, at least Mamata Banerjee has never been thinking alike, rejecting many Congress decisions, including the recent issue of not supporting Pranab Mukherjee for Presidential Post.
In case there is any dispute between Mamata led TMC and Congress and they decide to split, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav would support the UPA government,as it seems till date. But Congress would rather prefer sticking to TMC till 2014 General Elections.
However, if and once Pranab Mukherjee becomes the President of India and as expected, if there is a mixed election result of 2014 , where both the UPA and NDA doubt clear win, it would be a call of the President and then all the present effort to push Pranab Mukherjee on President’s chair would yield results in favour of Congress ! No denying that all these are expectations and assumptions and only 2014 knows what it has in its bag for Indian Politics !
