How safe is Indian Railways for its passengers ?
8th February 2012 , Haryana– National Level Junior Wrestler , Lokesh Kumar is suffering from fractured backbone and multiple head injuries after being thrown out of moving Dadar Express train by 5 people. The incident took place between Ambala and Sonepat and the wrestler lied by the tracks for almost 12 hours before being noticed and admitted to the hospital by the locals. Reportedly, he was going to Gonda to participate in the selection camp for upcoming tournament in Thailand when this happened.
No arrests have been reported so far. It is astonishing that Yuvraj Singh, a cricketer, has the nation by his side after reports being revealed of he suffering from cancerous tumour though in first stage and news and controversies have been following since it was revealed in media and there lies another athlete of national level fighting for his life assaulted by anti-social elements while the culprits are free.
This is not for the first time this has happened . On April 13 ‘2011 Sonu Sinha , a national level volley-ball and football player was thrown out by robbers trying to snatch a gold chain from her neck. The incident happened in Padmavat Express, between Chenati and Bareilly stations,in Uttar Pradesh. The athlete lost her leg in the incident.
If citizens of national recognition are not safe in the trains of the country, think about commoners of the nation. These sufferers somehow made to the news as they are known to the nation. What about the common citizens ? Who knows if similar incidents take place every other day in the Indian Railways and the cases may be closed as accidental deaths ! This is an utter failure of Indian Railways and the Railway Police and a shame on their administration!
The Funny Winning Run Scored by India!
India registers its first win in the Commonwealth Tri-Series against Sri Lanka. In the 46th over , bowled by Mathews of Sri Lanka Ashwin hit the winning shot which was ideally going to make him lose his wicket as it was high up in the air, very close to the pitch, towards the off-sdie and had at least two Sri Lankan players beneath it . It was considerably a very easy high-catch for any player. However, there was a twist in the tale as both took similar decision. Malinga decided to leave the ball for Tharanga and vice versa and the ball fell in between while Ashwin and Jadeja completed the winning run. Ashwin could not believe the rescue like everyone watching the match and had a astonished smile on his face. Well, rarely do we get to see these childish follies in International matches. All in all, it was a happy and funny climax of the match for Indian Cricket fans.
Kamla Pasand labelled boundary ropes may attract a fine of upto $66000 on Cricket Australia by the Australian Federal Health Department. The advertisment of “Chaini” which is fancy-packed spit(tobacco) were visible in almost all the matches. The advertisment is a breach of 1992 Tobacco Advertising Ban Law. Kamla Pasand being a company which is also into manufacturing of chewing-tobacco hence legally the adverts should not have been entertained by Cricket Australia.
As per reports these ads were removed in the first test match between India and Australia following complaints about the ad against the 1992 tobacco advertising ban law. But they were back after the Indian High Commission reportedly assured the cricket board that the product was mouth-wash.
The most shocking part is when asked by Cricket Australia the ad was allegedly translated in English as “Kamla likes fragrant Chaini mouth freshener”.
Well, Law breakers and manupulators find their ways out in the country , some way or the other but this time the limit was extended to a foreign country and at the end it is Cricket Australia which is likely to suffer by paying the penalty fee.

It was claimed as a proper rave party with hundreds of tents erected for the guests and booze and drugs in abundance.
Chief Minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda, on 6th of February 2012, ordered a probe into the matter and assured strict actions after the opposition party Congress, conducted a protest-march in Udipi last Sunday, blaming the government’s denial and inaction on the matter. They claimed religious sentiments of Christians were hurt with the island witnessing rave party. Gowda initially defended the three-day ‘international festival’. But he had to order a probe after a mobile phone clippings of at least one couple having sex during the party, reached local TV channels. The government and administration claims that the clipping may not be real as state cops were appointed there on duty while the party was taking place and no such incident was reported.
Well, BJP with RSS and Bajrang Dal being its allies has thrashed Indian couples in the past ,be it Valentine’s Day and many other occasions, claiming to protect the Hindu culture. The same organizations and their people eloped while such incidents took place in BJP ruled state. Does it not matter to the self-proclaiming saviours of Hindu culture to protest this incident, taking place in religiously important district for Hindus, if not the island?
