Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission,Montek Singh Ahluwalia stood good 69.
Most of us will agree on that ranking of Dr Singh. After all, he holds the Prime Minister’s chair of World’s largest democracy and about to complete 10 years as a PM and is not even burdened with the responsibilities of the office.
The Election Commission of India has asked Rahul Gandhi , the Congress Vice-President , to explain his ‘ISI remark’ after the BJP complained about him of violating the model code of conduct pre-elections. He was given a week’s time while his office said he remained busy during the festival hence the commission has granted him another 4 days to explain. In one of his speeches in the recent past, Rahul Gandhi had said that some security agencies informed him that the minority riot victims of the Muzaffarnagar riots are being contacted by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI to join terror outfits. Rahul had accused the BJP of playing communal politics even in Muzaffarnagar riots which is provoking differences between communities.
Rahul Gandhi’s speeches always remain under the radar of Media and Opposition as much as Narendra Modi’s and this is yet another addition to his controversial statements in the past. His previous theories like Poverty is a state of Mind and Dalits need Jupiter’s escape velocity to succeed are already popular and it seems like the ISI recruitment theory would need an explanation too.
The Allahabad Congress has passed a resolution demanding Priyanka Gandhi/Vadra be contesting polls from Phulpur, once the constituency of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Although, the Congress party has been denying any such involvement of Priyanka, still speculations are strong that she is being kept as the last trump card to be opened closer to the 2014 polls.
Well,Modi seems to be too big a personality to be overshadowed by any Congress leader or member of Gandhi family.
Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley is of the view that PM Manmohan Singh is using silence as the weapon of concealment in the missing coal files issue. BTW,Sonia Gandhi is in the US for her medical chek-up
The Food Bill which seeks to provide cheap foodgrains to 82 crore people in the country, ithe biggest programme in the world to fight hunger, has been passed by the Lok Sabha. The UPA govt’s last major weapon to convince voters for UPA 3 seem to have hit the target thanks to Sonia Gandhi.
Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, a suspect in the Bofors scam, that gave Congress real tough time for decades, has died of a heart attack in Milan.in 2011, CBI had dropped the cases against him declaring lack of evidence however the former CBI chief ,Joginder Singh, claimed the investigating body was in tremendous pressure from the government while probing the bofors scam. Quattrocchi allegedly acted as a middleman in the scam and his closeness to the Gandhi family and success in evading trial in India have long raised questions on whether he was shielded by the Congress.
While officially, he was no more threat to the Congress after CBI dropped the cases against him, still, the unofficial chance of knowing the exact truth of Bofors Scam seem to have been buried with the death of Quattrocchi.
May you all agree that blaming only our government does not help. We are to a great extent responsible for the ills in the country. When we count corruption we target straight at the government but do we not do our share of corruption too? And if we do not do so, do we stop people from doing the same ?
