Vindoo Dara Singh arrested

Indian wrestler and bollywood actor  Late Dara Singh’s son Vindoo has been arrested for his alleged links with IPL spot-fixing bookies. Dara Singh got popular playing Hanuman in Ramayana the mythological  Indian TV serial decades back although he was always a known Indian wrestler.His son also got an opportunity to play Hanuman but could not create that magic as of his father’s.

Vindoo’s police custody on the basis of his links with bookies has indicated clearly that the glamour world is as much involved in the wrong way of making money as it is involved in the right way by buying IPL Teams.  Twists and turns and bigger names may be expected being involved in the racket. No matter what, IPL is enjoying its share of TRP . After all , negative publicity is also a publicity. Ain’t it?

Actor, Sanjay Dutt surrendered  to serve three and a half years in arms case and cricketer,Sreesanth , got arrested for being involved in IPL betting. Soon we may have another T20 tournament inside the prison - Prisoners Premiere League !

Does the company ever save any money as profits or by evading taxes , if at all they are evading ? After all, Balaji Telefilms also produces movies starring Ekta’s brother Tushar !! :D :D

Manoj Kumar files lawsuit against Shah Rukh Khan

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar filed a lawsuit against superstar Shah Rukh Khan and film producers Eros International in a Mumbai court today seeking damages over certain scenes in 2007 film Om Shanti Om, which lampooned him. The film was recently released in Japan with the scenes intact.While , Manoj Kumar has asked for a compensation of Rs 100 crores for the scenes in the movie which he considered was insulting him and also declared he had nothing personal against King Khan but he cannot take his insult!

Well, reminds of SRK’s(Shah Rukh Khan) last release -”Jab Tak Hai Jaan” where he plays the role of a bomb-diffusing army guy who used to diffuse all bombs unhurt. How will he diffuse the “Bharat Kumar Rs 100 cr court case bomb” ?  ;)

SC verdict-Sanjay Dutt to serve 3 and 1/2 years more for possessing Arms Illegally

While Sanjay Dutt has been cleared of  being involved in any terrorist plotting and/or  activities related to the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts incident , he has been found guilty of possessing AK 56 rifle in his house and this ammunition belonged to the consignment which was a part of arms and ammunition which was illegally smuggled to India for conducting the bomb blast! Amid, former police commissioner who had investigated the bomb blast says dropping Sanjay Dutt off  TADA (on request of Sunil Dutt to the police department and the government to show mercy)charges was department’s biggest mistake.

Sanjay Dutt to serve another three and a half years for possessing illegal arms

Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to serve 5 years for keeping illegal arms and as he has already served 1 and 1/2 years previously , he has to serve another 3 and 1/2 years to complete his sentence. Meanwhile, there are voices which are rising in favour of  him sighting he has already suffered a lot since last 20 years . Influential voices from the government, keepers of law,other politicians and Bollywood wanting Sanju Baba to be spared has been rising !

Justice Markandey Katju,Film Director, Mahesh Bhatt,Jaya Bachchan and many big names want Sanju Baba be spared and there are indeed provisions in law which may ease things for ‘Munna Bhai’ of Bollywood !

Well, being his fan, it would be great to see him out of the mess but is it fair to be favouring him just because he is a celebrity ? There are hundreds of cases sited by the media where commoners suffering jail terms are eligible to be excused of serving jail any further !

Saif Ali Khan evicted forcibly from the VIP Lounge at Lucknow Airport

Saif Ali Khan had a spat with security personnel at the Lucknow Airport when he was not willing to leave the VIP lounge where he was not authorized to enter. He had visited the city to promote his upcoming movie ‘Bullet Raja’. Ultimately,he had to leave the lounge and join the commoners’ zone after the senior officials intervened and asked him to be evicted out.

Well, is he yet not a VIP ? Bollywood actors of his status are generally given VIP treatment throughout the nation. Aren’t they ? Moreover he is the son of  a Nawab-Nawab Pataudi and now a  Nawab himself by default!  ;) . And to add on it happened at Lucknow Airport, of all ? It is a city of Nawabs and Kebabs !! :D Is that how they treat a Nawab ? :)

Questioning the religious tolerance of India,actor and film-maker Kamal Haasan made an emotional statement willing to look for another country if he does not find any secular place in India. Kamal Haasan’s latest 100 crore budgeted film ‘Vishwaroopam‘ has suffered a set back after being opposed by few minority hardliner groups complaining the movie shows Islam in poor light.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘being Muslim’ controversy

In an interview with Outlook Turning Point magazine ,King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan has created a controversy by stating that his ‘being Muslim’ ,post 9/11, has made him a target of  few political leaders and that rallies have been held in the past where he has been asked to leave his home and return to his original homeland, indicating Pakistan.He also mentioned such issues forced him to make the movie  ’My Name Is Khan(and I’m not a terrorist)’.

The controversy fueled up  when Pakistan’s,Interior Minister,Rehman Malik stated that India should give security to Shah Rukh Khan while, Hafiz Saeed,India’s most wanted terrorist for Mumbai 2008 terror attack , stated Shah Rukh Khan can very well come and live in Pakistan and that he would make all the arrangements .

Look who is talking ? Should Mr Malik rather not sort out his country’s security issues where bomb blasts are a daily business before asking India to give security to Shah Rukh ? And is Hafiz Saeed,a terrorist, also a Pakistani Minister to offer people relocation assistance in Pakistan ?

Well, is it not astonishing to hear Shah Rukh Khan complain ? Is he not the actor who tops the charts of  Bollywood Heroes since over a decade now (thanks to his fans ,majority of whom are logically non-Muslims)? Do his fans give a second thought about whom he prays before being his mad fans ? When has he been questioned for being a Muslim , in India(American airport is not in India where he was held) ? And whenever and if ever he has been targeted by political parties for ‘being Muslim’ ,is he the only Bollywood Star who has been targeted for political mileage (publicity stunt)? Even Amitabh Bachchan has been targeted  for being a North Indian .

There is no denying that artists have been soft targets for Indian Political Leaders but this is not restricted to any religion or caste. This happened to Salman Rushdie,Ashis Nandy,Deepa Mehta,Tasleema Nasreen, Amitabh and Aamir and so many more. Is he the only one who has been targeted ? Then why making a fuss about it ? Bollywood actors have been respected by the Indian society regardless what religion they follow and what caste they belong to and Shah Rukh Khan himself is one of the biggest example of such respect and love.

Vishwaroopam banned in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

A few groups of minorities have forced Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’ be banned in Tamil Nadu and then Andhra Pradesh citing ‘showing of Muslims and Islam in bad light in the movie’ as the reason ! Kamal Haasan is of the belief that a few handful of Muslims cannot represent the whole community and protest on behalf of them and also that his movie has nothing which would offend sentiments of Muslims rather would make them proud.

Interestingly, the government of the Center or States do not take strict steps against these few hardliners who become the self-proclaimed saviour of religion and take decisions on behalf of the community. Should not art and literature be left out of political and vested interest and an artist or a thinker be allowed to express ? Well, that’s a tricky question to answer when it comes to religion because most of us identify ourselves on the basis of religion , caste and birthplace than as human beings, first . :)
