Salman Rushdie,the controversial author of ’Satanic Verses’ was scheduled to visit Kolkata to promote the movie ‘Midnight’s Children’ which is based on his book,along with actor Rahul Bose and film maker Deepa Mehta but had to cancel his visit after few muslim organizations opposed his arrival in the city.However,Salman Rusdie has tweeted that it was the chief minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee,who herself had asked the Kolkata Police to block his arrival. He has alleged that the city cops had warned the organizers about a protest planned against Rushdie’s visit.
