Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav has proposed that MLAs who do not have a car of their own should be allowed to buy a car within Rs 20 lakhs, using state funds, for survey work in their constituencies.After the 5 year term the car could be returned to the government or be bought by the MLA at a depreciated value.Most of the MLAs were happy the way they are ! Some expressed ideas of spending the money on development work of their constituencies rather than buying cars out of taxpayer’s money.
Well, it sounds astonishing that our politicians are bothered about the public and not themselves and that too in a state like Uttar Pradesh where the last Chief Minister,Mayawati, had spent lakhs and crores of state-fund to build her own and party symbol’s(elephant) monuments ,all over the state capital!
